I just saw someone on the street wearing these sandals and I almost tripped over my own feet just to get another glance. I can’t believe I actually found them!! I am really drawn to everything and anything with zipper detail, it adds just the right amount of “edge” to any piece whether it be shoes, handbags, dresses or tops. I think what I love so much about this is that they are always unexpected, like the exposed zippers on the back of the pink/black colorblock dress and blue top below or the zipper on the pocket of the white t-shirt. The zipper always adds a little shock value; spices things up a bit. Are you as struck by these zipper details like I am? I mean, honestly, how can you not be?
Looking for something a little unexpected? Try the exposed ZIPPER!
July 26, 2009Beaded Accessories and Tops: Stylish or Childish?
June 1, 2009I’ve been seeing beaded accessories and tops everywhere I turn these days. They bring me back…reminding me of all the colorful beads I used to collect and the necklaces, ankle bracelets and rings I made when I was younger. Maybe that’s why I’m confused by the fact that they are resurfacing now when older. I’m liking it, but it also makes me feel a little immature to put some of them on. On the flip side, what’s so bad about bringing back some good ole’ memories?
Do you like this trend or is it too reminiscent of your childhood to wear it all over again years and years later?
P.S. If you want to try to create some of your own jewelry pieces, there are places all over NYC (and I’m sure in your area too) that have classes that teach you how to be a bead whiz all on your own!
Check out Femme Gems in NYC. It’s fun to get a few friends together and throw a party with wine, hors d’oeuvres and jewelry making!
P.P.S. I’m loving Fiona Paxton…she definitely puts a more mature (and gorgeous) twist to this trend. I also found some knock-offs of her stuff for super cheap in Nordstrom’s B.P. department.
