It’s a highly humid, hot, and muggy night in New York City. My hair is already tied back, but my bangs are bugging me. I’m hanging out at a bar called “Frying Pan” (ever heard of it?), really cool place right on the Hudson River, and I’m on line for the bathroom. I have a bobby pin in my pocket and I’m about to give up and pin back the bangs that are glued to my forehead, when a girl taps me on the shoulder and asks if I need help. Her friend says, “she’s really good at this.” Meanwhile, my helper has perfectly straight bangs, I can’t imagine where this expertise comes from, but anyway…she pins my bangs back in a perfect “poof” (you know what I mean). It looked great, surprisingly. I actually really appreciated her help. I felt so much more comfortable the rest of the night, not having to worry about my frizzed out hair.
Are you the kind of girl that helps others out, or do you turn a blind eye? Ever pay it forward? How do you feel about the “poof?”

I saw Hair on Broadway this past weekend and it was beyond incredible! Before I arrived I didn’t really know what it was about, but the second I caught a glimpse of the scenery and wardrobe on the characters, it was VERY clear that I was taking a dive into the 1960’s.
Everything from their “hair”, dresses, jeans and shoes brought you right into this hippie era. It got me thinking…why aren’t we so carefree now? Wondering around with rips in our jeans, wavy and frizzy hair, enjoying the sweet life (well, maybe life wasn’t so sweet, but you catch my drift)?
Here are some pieces that have inspired me since my Hair viewing…so purchase a few, throw a sunflower in your hair and let the sun shine in!

I just got a glimpse of Kim Kardashian’s new hairstyle, and I’m kind of digging it. It’s very Jennifer Lopez meets Beyonce – how fitting since they are all known for their curvaceous figures. Celebrities are always changing their hair color after a devastating breakup. Maybe to symbolize that next step in their lives, to show that they are moving forward? Have you reinvented yourself after a breakup? Why did you do it?
What do you think of Kim’s new look?

Okay, I first saw this look on Cassie (R&B singer) while flipping through my People Magazine, then Carmen Electra and NOW Rihanna. Honestly, what is going on? Not in my wildest dreams would I ever let anyone take a razor to my head. And to make matters even more confusing, they only shave one side? Yes, this look is most definitely edgy and different, but just makes me wonder “what were they thinking?” Or…maybe I’m just pissed off because Rihanna still looks gorgeous with only half a head of hair (ha)?
Would you try out this latest trend? How do you think these stars look?

After much procrastination (and harassment from a co-worker that they were WAY too long), I got my bangs cut. Getting a bang cut is not as easy as one may think. It is a very delicate balance. If they don’t cut enough, you will have to go back next week again for yet another bang cut. If they cut too much, your bangs might end up looking like Peggy on Mad Men (see below), and I sure don’t want that!! The bang cut yesterday ended up being one of the best I’ve gotten since I’ve stepped foot in the city. Who would have thought that the hair salon I’ve been staring at through my work window for 2 years would be “the one.”
Anyways, how often do you go to get a bang/hair cut? Do you stick with one person or do you go with the most convenient at the moment? Do you trust when some else has those scissors in their hands or are you as skeptical as I am of their expertise? How much do you pay? Have any horror stories to tell?
