Over the holiday weekend I went through my closet and ended up with 2 big garbage bags filled with clothes that I just don’t wear anymore. I put a few things aside for my younger sister, who will definitely get use of things collecting dust in my closet, but the rest of my clothes I brought over to Goodwill. Yes, it was a pain in the ass to get everything over there, but it sure was worth it. It made me feel so good to “give.” It’s such a selfless act that I would like to do more often. It’s the perfect way to start off the new year.
Do you throw them out? Hand them down? Sell them on ebay? Or do you donate them to those who are not as fortunate as you are?
Check out the Goodwills in your area, it’s a shame to let used clothes go to waste, or even worse, for them to be thrown out in the garbage.
Also, you can deduct charitable contributions of your clothes in your taxes! Just make sure to ask for a receipt.
Start the new year off right and donate to those who need it!
